Skating Love

I got a little reminder nudge, here's my update :-)

Roller Derby practice was absolutely AWESOME!!! It felt so natural to be on my skates, doing what the seasoned gals were doing. We did some fitness drills, stops (t-stop, plow stop), drops (knee drop, baseball drop), pushups, situps, hip work, squats, squats and more squats. Then we did some blocking practice which consisted of us skating around a mock track in pairs getting a feel for how to move back and forth on the track to block a jammer, and how to communicate with your partner through leg taps. We finished off with a game of tag, I was the "it" girl on the second round and even managed to tag out a some gals!

I learned quite a few new things, namely how to stop without just skating around in a circle... I met up with some friends later that night for a good meal and beer, boy did I need it! Yesterday I was a tad sore, but could still walk properly without wincing at all, today I'm feeling it much more! I'm proud of myself though I managed to do a set of my self prescribed morning exercises, only one set though... will have to work up to more and work on those squats! (my ass will thank me later)

Have you ever done this before or was this your very first time? Were there other newbies too?

This was my very first practice! Yep, there were other newbies, one girl (I think) mentioned it was her first time on skates, how intimidating!
