Gearing up for some resolutions

I have been giving my New Year's resolutions lots of thought lately. Each December I vow to either make no resolutions in the New Year, or to make many. This year is a "make many resolutions" kind of year.

For the most part my life has been going very well. I have everything I've sought out to get and then some. The part of my life that falls through the cracks is the fine details, and that is where my resolutions will come in.

One of the biggest peeves in my life is not having a clean house. I am a busy woman, this is obvious to everyone around me. I work full time, am a full time student and have two children - to say I am busy is an understatement. It's the busy-ness of my life that I love, but it means I have to make sacrifices and this typically shows in the state of my house. We do a decent job and try to stay on top of things but it's not up to my standard. This is my resolution #1 - keep the house tidy and clean. I will create a list of what needs to get done on which days and stick to it.

Resolution #2 - spend more quality time with the girls.

This brings me to resolution #3 - be more prepared with my dinners. In doing this I will be able to spend more time with my girls instead of cooking and shooing them to the basement. I will be making more freezer meals (such as chicken pot pie), make ahead meals and easier meals. The key to this will be to just be more prepared.

Resolution #4 - spend more quality time with hubby dearest. We watch some shows each night but don't go on nearly enough dates. I'll have to have a chat with him about how we can remedy this.

Exercise and eat better is resolution #5. Who doesn't put this on their list every year?! My plan for this is to wake up early each morning and do a little work out. Eat breakfast (that isn't a peanut butter sandwich) and make sure I have healthy snacks and a lunch for work.

My #6 resolution is by far my most exciting - make a commitment to roller derby! I will be skating with a local league on Sunday and occasionally Friday nights. So friggin excited about this! I still need to figure out a roller derby name - nothing at all has clicked. I also need to save up some moola to buy proper derby (not old school) skates.

So to recap:
#1 - keep house tidy and clean
#2 - spend more quality time with kids
#3 - be more prepared for dinners
#4 - spend more quality time with hubby
#5 - exercise and eat better
#6 - commit to roller derby

All while maintaining my honor roll GPA - I can do this right?!
